Dance Teams
The Just Dance Competition Team is comprised of many dancers ranging in ages 5-18. They perform at three regional dance competitions and one national dance competition throughout the year. Dancers are selected for the competition team because of their technical and artistic abilities, their commitment and desire to learn, their positive attitude and excellent attendance in class. The dancers compete in tap, jazz and lyrical ranging from solos to productions.
The Competition Team functions as both a performance group and a competitive team. Students on the Competition Team learn the value of community service through performing at nursing homes and other community events in the area. The dancers learn the importance of teamwork, dedication and commitment that is needed to achieve their goals.
Through competition, our dancers are exposed to several different teaching styles, new choreography and the chance to travel and perform in many different venues. Members of our competition team develop great work ethic and time management skills. These dancers become role models to each other and because of that they routinely grow and develop both artistically and academically.
There are two steps to our competition program, first is our Jr. Intensive team and second is the Dance Team.
The Jr. Intensive Team is designed for the young dancer that displays a natural sense of talent and technical ability and potential. These dancers are placed in this program to train in a more professional classroom setting. With a caring, yet structured environment the main focus is ballet, jazz and tap. Students will be training 4 hours per week. Students at this level do not compete. They are simply focusing on proper training.
The Dance Team is designed for dancers that excel technically with passion, dedication and the desire to pursue serious dance training. Intense ballet, jazz, tap and lyrical are the base for these dancers. Students will be training 6 hours per week and be expected to attend additional rehearsals for competition when needed. Students considering dance at the college or professional level will receive the technical training required by today's leading choreographers and companies.
